The Town That Rose From Fire
They say Pleasantview was born from ashes.
The old town burned. Families scattered. And from the embers, the Goth family led the survivors to a grassy suburb on the outskirts of SimCity, where they built something new on ground that had never known fire.
Twenty-five years have passed since then. The grass is green. The water is calm. Three mountains stand watch over the valley, one to the west, two flanking the eastern road like silent guardians. A bridge spans the waterfront where boats float at all hours, and a dense forest creeps along the northwestern edge, hiding things that grew in the dark.
Pleasantview looks peaceful from the outside. But peace is a surface thing. Underneath, the suburb holds its breath.
The Landscape That Watches
Pleasantview is small enough that everyone knows everyone. Or thinks they do.
The terrain rolls gently, grassy and open, broken by distinct locales that tell their own stories. A trailer park offers simple living for those who want less. Six condominiums provide modern comfort for those who want convenience. A commercial district anchors daily life with a pool, grocery store, and clothing shop where neighbors meet and pretend nothing is wrong.
The southern part of town is where the money lives. The houses near the water are the largest, the most expensive, the most watched. This is where the Goth mansion stands, gothic and grand, a reminder that some families arrive with history written into their names.
The mountains don’t move. The bridge doesn’t speak. The forest keeps its own counsel. But the Sims who live here, they talk. They whisper. They remember things that never quite happened the way everyone says they did.
The Families
The Goth Family
Once at the center of Pleasantview’s social scene, the Goth family is now shrouded in mystery following Bella’s disappearance. Mortimer moved on quickly with Dina Caliente, his reaction strangely calm. Cassandra is engaged to Don Lothario, naive and unaware of his other attachments. Alexander, a child prodigy, remembers his mother disappearing and Mortimer being okay with it.
The Lothario Family
Don Lothario’s relationships raise eyebrows throughout the neighborhood. Despite his engagement to Cassandra, he is involved with both Caliente sisters and Kaylynn Langerak. He puts on charm like cologne. Whether he realizes how many attachments the neighborhood is aware of, nobody knows.
The Caliente Sisters
Nina and Dina Caliente arrived in Pleasantview on the eve of Bella Goth’s disappearance, a coincidence that has not gone unnoticed. Dina pursues Mortimer, though some say her interest runs more toward the Goth fortune than the man himself. Nina is involved with Don Lothario, though whether she knows about his other attachments is a question. Some say they planned their arrival. Some say they simply knew opportunity when they saw it.
The Dreamer Family
Darren Dreamer is a widower and struggling artist. He is in love with Cassandra Goth but does not know how to express his feelings. His son Dirk is a teenager dating Lilith Pleasant, dealing with typical teenage issues while focusing on school and his relationship with his father.
The Broke Family
Brandi Broke is a single mother raising her sons alone after the suspicious death of her husband Skip. She is pregnant with their third child. Dustin, her teenage son, dates Angela Pleasant while wrestling with uncertainty about how his father died. His career choices may reflect this unease.
The Pleasant Family
Daniel and Mary-Sue Pleasant’s seemingly perfect life hides underlying tensions. Mary-Sue is focused on her career. Daniel has been seen with the maid Kaylynn Langerak, though whether this is friendship or something more is a question Mary-Sue may not want to answer. Their twin daughters Angela and Lilith do not get along.
The Burb Family
Newcomers John and Jennifer Burb, along with their daughter Lucy, seek a fresh start in Pleasantview. They bring new hopes and dreams to the community, adding their own thread to the neighborhood’s tangled weave. Lucy is young now, making friends and finding her place in her new home.
The Oldie Family
As the neighborhood’s elder statesmen, Herb and Coral Oldie offer wisdom and stability. They maintain a partnership that functions well, though the nature of their arrangement is something they keep to themselves. Whether some things are better left unspoken is a question.
Secrets Beneath the Surface
Pleasantview stands at a crossroads. The old tensions have not resolved. The new faces have not brought relief.
The fire that destroyed the old town was twenty-five years ago. But the smoke still lingers in memories. Families carry stories they do not share. Neighbors watch and whisper. Some things are better left buried.
There are stories about cloning experiments and suspicious deaths. There are stories about visitors from beyond and timing that was too convenient. There are stories about elixirs that keep Sims young and fortunes that change hands too quickly.
