The town’s foundations were laid by Sheriff Paul, an ancestor of Deputy Duncan, and it has since become a sanctuary for those with secrets, mysteries, and strange obsessions. The harsh, barren landscape, characterized by rocky terrain and scattered cacti, reinforces the town’s sense of isolation. The relentless desert sun and eerie stillness add an unsettling ambiance, making it the perfect backdrop for the mysterious events that occur here.
But beneath its sandy surface, a shadowy facility known as Division 47 may oversee and manipulate the town’s eerie happenings, ensuring that the true extent of Strangetown’s mysteries never sees the light of day.
In Strangetown, nothing is what it seems.
The Landscape That Watches
Strangetown sits isolated in the desert, a long road cutting through the harsh terrain like a scar. A crashed spaceship lies broken in the sand. A stone face carved by Will Wright watches over it all, expressionless and eternal.
88 Road to Nowhere: Once a desolate area that may have served as a government outpost, 88 Road to Nowhere has since been revitalized. Its crumbling buildings serve as a reminder of Strangetown’s secretive past. Rumors suggest the area was used for alien observation or other classified experiments, though these claims remain unproven.

Deadtree and Paradise Place: Ghostly and enigmatic, these areas are steeped in mystery. Deadtree may host eerie meetings and strange occurrences, while Paradise Place, home to Bella Goth’s mansion, is said to be a magnet for the supernatural. The area’s haunted history continues to draw in those who seek the unknown.

Division 47: A shadowy district on the outskirts of Strangetown, Division 47 is rumored to operate as a high-security facility for alien experimentation and military oversight. Deceptively bland on the outside, it may hide a labyrinth of labs and holding areas where the town’s darkest secrets are kept. Its influence is said to extend throughout Strangetown, manipulating events from behind the scenes and ensuring that the town’s mysteries remain hidden.

The Families
Strangetown’s residents are as enigmatic as the town itself, each family contributing to the overall sense of mystery.
The Smith Family: Straddling the line between human and alien worlds, the Smith family may grapple with their unusual heritage. Pollination Technician #9 (PT9), a retired alien, and his human wife, Jenny, are said to raise their half-alien children, Johnny and Jill, in a town where the unknown is often feared. PT9’s memory loss upon retirement suggests his superiors may have intervened. Jenny, obsessed with green, was perhaps drawn to him due to subconscious alien connections. Johnny may struggle with his half-alien identity and finds solace with Ophelia Specter. Jill dreams of becoming a deep sea welder far from Strangetown’s sands. Whether PT9’s integration into the neighborhood will ever be complete remains uncertain.

The Grunt Family: Led by General Buzz Grunt, this military family is disciplined and secretive. Buzz’s strictness may dominate his household, creating tension with his sons: Tank, Ripp, and Buck. Buzz’s ex-wife Lyla died of electrocution, her grave found in Olive Specter’s garden, leading to questions no one asks aloud. Buzz’s hatred for the Smith family may stem from their alien heritage, though Ripp and Buck are said to maintain better relationships with them. Buzz sleeps with a teddy bear, mean so he can be disciplined. There are rumors that Buzz may one day convince the Smith family to move into Division 47, supposedly for protection. Whether such a move would stem from protection or something darker remains a question Strangetown leaves beautifully unanswered.

The Specter Family: Olive Specter, a woman with a mysterious connection to death, lives with her niece, Ophelia. Olive’s garden, filled with gravestones, raises suspicions about her past. Rumors suggest she kills to be closer to the Grim Reaper, who may have fathered her son Nervous Subject. Ophelia, haunted by deaths surrounding her aunt, is said to date Johnny Smith and finds solace in her friendship with Ripp Grunt. Whether Olive actually murdered Sims or whether the deaths were coincidence… whether Nervous Subject is truly the Grim Reaper’s son… these are questions that linger like the ghosts in her garden.

The Curious Brothers: Pascal, Vidcund, and Lazlo Curious are driven by their thirst for knowledge, especially when it comes to extraterrestrial life. The brothers are deeply connected to Strangetown’s alien history. Pascal is said to be pregnant with an alien baby, Tycho, following an abduction. Vidcund once dated Circe Beaker, their relationship ending in rejection. Lazlo, more relaxed than his brothers, harbors a secret crush on Crystal Vu and faces rumors of cheating his way to success. There are whispers that Tycho may one day become a target for nefarious experiments, and that Vidcund might betray his family by kidnapping the child for a mysterious blue-skinned Dude in Black. Whether such events will come to pass remains to be seen.

The Beaker Family: Loki and Circe Beaker, Strangetown’s resident mad scientists, are said to conduct twisted experiments in their secluded mansion. Their rivalry with the Curious brothers and their experiments on Nervous Subject may add to the town’s eerie atmosphere. There are rumors that Circe may have an affair with Doctor Dominic Newlow, which could add to the chaos in their household. Some say their partnership may one day crumble as secrets are revealed. Whether Loki’s genetically engineered children Ceres and Atom survived in their futuristic world remains unknown.

The Singles Household: This household includes Kristen Loste, Erin Beaker (Loki’s sister), and the alien twins Lola and Chloe (daughters of Glarn Curious and Pollination Technician #9). Their complex relationships and individual struggles may reflect the town’s broader mysteries. Whether they will accept their differences and remain friends, or whether tension will tear the house apart, that is a question the neighborhood holds close.

The Loner Household: Ajay Loner, seeking solitude from the town’s strangeness, moved into a small house hoping for peace. However, he may have found that escaping Strangetown’s mysteries is nearly impossible. Whether he will find himself in Strangetown or whether the odd things that happen here will drive him away… that remains to be seen.

Additional Sims: Bella Goth is said to have reappeared in Strangetown, though whether she is real, a clone, or a ghost remains uncertain. Dominic Newlow, Penelope Kline, Gimi Branko, Hoot Howell, Annie Howell, Cristian Allard, Jane Koch. Each carries their own piece of Strangetown’s puzzle.
Secrets Beneath the Sand
Strangetown is a tight-knit yet divided community, with its residents often caught between their desires for normalcy and the strange happenings that define the town. The town’s remote location and bizarre occurrences foster an air of secrecy, suspicion, and intrigue among its inhabitants.
Rumors swirl about Division 47’s reach. General Buzz Grunt could one day serve as head of security there. Tank Grunt might rise to Colonel. Ripp Grunt would handle logistics, though questions linger about whether he could stomach the morality of such operations. Lazlo Curious has the expertise for alien technology work. Vidcund Curious has the secrecy for covert operations. PT9 has the alien biology for surveillance. Doctor Dominic Newlow has the influence for manipulation.
Whispers circulate about what could unfold: the Smith family relocated to Division 47. Johnny escaping to Deadtree seeking normalcy. Tycho becoming a target for Vidcund and the Dude in Black. Jenny believing protection was the goal, only to discover experimentation instead.
Other stories wait in the wings: Bella Goth selling her Espiritu Estate. Someone returning Nervous Subject’s charm to Annie Howell at the Nighthowl Saloon. Gimi Branko escaping the Beakers’ clutches. Doctor Dominic Newlow’s true role coming to light.
What will come to pass remains unwritten. Whether anyone could escape Division 47’s reach. Whether the truth might surface. Whether Strangetown’s mysteries will ever be solved. These questions remain buried beneath the desert sands, waiting for someone to uncover them.
