๐ฎ What We’re Doing
๐ Story Progression Setup
We’re using the same SimCity neighborhood from episode #0.4, now with Story Progression mod running. Off-screen aging is sometimes on, sometimes off, depends on how much chaos I can handle. ๐
What is Story Progression? For anyone new to Sims 2 mods: Story Progression lets NPCs and unplayed households live their lives autonomously. They age, get jobs, fall in love, have kids, and occasionally make questionable life choices, all without you touching the controls. It’s like watching a soap opera where you occasionally intervene.
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ The Families in Play
Six households we’re following this episode:
- The Oldies: Aging gracefully (or not)
- The Burbs: Suburban life enthusiasts
- The Goodies: Exactly what it says on the tin
- The Contender: Ambition-driven chaos
- The Baldwin: High society life
- The Peterson: Strucling without riches?
These are pre-made EA families. All of them are about to have very different experiences now that Story Progression is running.
๐ฏ Episode Goals
- Let Story Progression run and see what happens
- Check in on each family’s progress
- Intervene when things get too chaotic (or too boring)
- Set up emerging storylines for future episodes
- Try not to let anyone die of starvation. No promises.
๐บ How This Stream Works
Prerecorded format: This stream is recorded in advance, which means:
- No live commentary during the stream itself
- Edited video version will have full commentary added later
- I can pause, rewind, and actually explain what’s happening in post
- You get a smoother viewing experience without my real-time fumbling
Why prerecorded? Story Progression streams can have long stretches of “waiting for something to happen.” By recording first, I can cut the dull moments and add context where it matters.

Question for chat: Have you tried Story Progression in Sims 2? What’s the wildest thing that’s happened in your neighborhood when you let Sims live autonomously? Did anyone become a celebrity? Start a feud? Accidentally take over the town? Drop your stories below! ๐
Also: Do you prefer watching Sims gameplay with live commentary, or do you like the prerecorded + edited format where I can add context in post? What works better for your viewing style?
What families should I focus on next? The six in this episode are just the start, should I dive deeper into specific households, or keep rotating through the neighborhood?
